Tackle the problem at its source by reducing plastic packaging, plastic bags and containers used by retailers.

Why the contribution is important

Although litter can't be completely eradicated this could go a long way to helping reduce it and mean less time picking up litter for the council and volunteers.

I agree with this, and also think that a deposit return scheme could help too, as this will mean businesses are required to be a part of schemes to reuse returned items
