The council must be forced to do it

It's ridiculous that the council have let things get into such a state! If the community starts doing everything, they'll never do it again and we'll be stuck in a litter tip! 

We should put pressure on our local councillors to raise the profile of this.

Why the contribution is important

Because we pay our council tax and we should have a say in what it is used for!

    Totally agree with this in theory but it isn't the councils fault, they have had to make so many cute due to decreasing government budgets.

    Agree to an extent - the more we as residents let our elected representatives know that it is an important issue to us, the more they are likely to raise it up the agenda.

    There is some really interesting debate here, I wonder if there is some kind of middle ground?
